Extended Care Postpartum Doula and Wellness Educator
Hanna Hotchkiss
I’m Hanna Hotchkiss, a mom of four and the founder of Sowing Seeds Wellness Care. I’ve dedicated my work to supporting families through the early years, helping mothers feel physically, emotionally, and practically supported while navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood.

As a postpartum doula, I am passionate about providing extended care and serving families in a knowledgeable and personalized way during the whole first three years. I draw on my experience and education to support parents through the milestones and challenges of these years, offering guidance, reassurance, education, support, and practical strategies that help families thrive.

I understand how overwhelming this season can feel. My goal is to provide calm, compassionate support so families can rest, recover, grow and confidently embrace these transformative early years.

I especially enjoy cooking, baking, nutrition, feeding littles, wellness, body mechanics, pregnancy/birth/postpartum, the evolution of lifecycle dynamics, history, nature, reading, puzzles and poetry. These passions continue to inspire me both personally and professionally and often can be found in my day-to-day shift work.

Postpartum Doula
Janelle Kantola
Janelle is an Ypsilanti-based mother of three with a strong background in environmental science, edible gardening, and community nutrition education. She spent more than 12 years as a Community Nutrition Instructor with Michigan State University Extension, supporting families in building healthy eating and physical activity habits. Throughout her career, Janelle has been a dedicated educator who approaches every family with empathy, compassion, and respect.

Janelle balances her professional work with spending her days caring for her youngest child, a role that continues to deepen her understanding of the realities of early parenthood. In her free time, she enjoys hiking with her dogs, reading, and relaxing in the sauna at her local gym.

Janelle loves supporting families with children of all ages. She finds deep joy in supporting families through the tender transitions of infancy and early childhood, from soothing newborns to witnessing milestones like first movements, first steps, emerging voices, and developing personalities.
Having personally navigated breastfeeding challenges and sleep struggles with her own children, Janelle understands how overwhelming even the most basic aspects of newborn care can feel. She believes that compassionate and knowledgeable support, even for just a few hours, can provide parents with the rest and reassurance they need to regain confidence and resilience.

Janelle is honored to support families through both the challenging moments and the joyful ones, offering calm, nonjudgmental care during one of life’s most vulnerable seasons.
